Sarah's Special Weekend: Passport2Purity

We all hear the phrase as parents: "They grow up way too fast!!". Well that is the case with our three as well. Our daughter, Sarah, will be eleven years old in February and Glen and I decided that it was time to take her on her Passport2Purity Getaway. We had such a blast together having fun along with our special mother-daughter time!

For those of you not familiar with Passport2Purity, it is a fun, interactive, getaway for a Mom and daughter or Dad and son. It helps you, as a parent, connect with your preteen son or daughter as you help your child decide, in advance, what his or her convictions will be when it comes to peer pressure, dating, sex, and other issues, based on God's Word. (For more details see the link at the end of this post).

The two of us as we start our Passport2Purity time together. Glen took the boys away for a couple of days so the "girls" could have our special time together!

The first thing Sarah wanted to do was to go rock-climbing at a local place in Little Rock called Lewis and Clark. She climbed the wall one time all the way to the top and "rang the bell" to let everyone know she made it!

After rock climbing, we went to the Mall and looked around. Then went out to eat at a local restaurant and enjoyed some good, Mexican food together. After stopping off at Starbucks for some coffee for Mom and vanilla creme for Sarah, we went home and got comfy in our PJ's and started listening to the audio Passport2Purity sessions together.

Sarah's final treat for the night was getting her ears pierced by Mom! As you can see she was all smiles after getting her first set of "real earrings"!

One of the projects involved working on a puzzle as an "object lesson". That as we need a box top to guide us as we do a puzzle, we also need a "box top" to guide us in life - and the box top we use is God's Word, the Bible. Sarah finished her puzzle and liked it so much she wanted to have Mom take a picture of her with it!

As this weekend was about Sarah maturing as a young lady, I wanted to treat her to a "real tea". One of my good friends, Susan, was perfect for this! She had us over for a real, English high tea with tea sandwiches, scones, lemon tarts, and, of course, cream for our tea.

We had so much fun together and enjoyed this special treat for lunch! Thank God for good friends and good food to share together!

Our time together for Passport2Purity ended. What a great time connecting as mother-daughter! We had some great times talking about how life will be challenging as Sarah continues to grow up. It was so great to let her know, in this special way, that we are coming alongside her and how we are here to support her and encourage her with the commitments she made during this time talking about God's desires for her life. I feel so blessed to have been given the tools and the opportunity to share in my daughters life in this way.
