January 20th: A Word from Dennis Rainey

As Shawn and I serve at FamilyLife, on of the great privileges is getting to be part of an organization led by Dennis Rainey. More than just the leader of our ministry, he is a Godly man who walks the talk as a follower of Christ. Here is how Dennis wrote to the FamilyLife staff on January 20th:

I woke up with a lot of thoughts this morning…like you, undoubtedly. What an amazing and historic day for our nation! The back of my neck has chill bumps. To think of the injustice and evil of slavery that once represented our nation…the struggle of decades of discrimination… all of this will not be brought to an end today, but this is one huge step away from the past and is a day at which the world will marvel. May God use this day and the days that follow for His purposes.

I would like to invite you to pray for our new President, Barack Obama. Pray for his heart - that it will be turned toward God, for wisdom to govern in these challenging days, and for his safety and protection from harm, evil, and temptation.

God is at work in our nation and the world and (just think about it!) you and I get to be a part of it. Challenging days to be sure, but great days to be alive, walk by faith and represent The King of Kings.
