There are many "lies" that are prevalent in our country, but one of the biggest is the lie that divorce will not hurt the children - that in the long run they will be better off in a divorced home than one with two parents who can't seem to get along.
More and more secular studies are showing that divorce has lifelong consequences on children. They have higher rates of addiction, higher rates of pregnancy, higher rates of depression - just to name a few.
But even if you don't believe the statistics, maybe the images we have included in this post will help you realize the pain associated with being a child of divorce. We think the pictures speak loud and clear.
These images are just two of many that are on the website called Postcards from Splitsville. You can find it at: http://www.postcardsfromsplitsville.com/
There are many other images on the Postcards from Splitsville website as well—they vividly portray the truth that “divorce hurts.” And it not only hurts the children, but the husband and wife as well. We have seen this first-hand in divorced families.
And just to be clear, we are not condemning those who have been through a divorce. Some have biblical grounds for divorce. But the majority of divorces in this country simply come from selfishness and an unwillingness to follow the plan, purpose, and power God has for their marriage relationship. God’s plan for marriage problems and conflict is ALWAYS reconciliation. And reconciliation starts with repentance and looking at the “plank in your own eye” before blaming others. His Word says you can “receive mercy and find grace in your time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
