NEWS!! Snow in Houston Texas!!

When we started our trip to Texas, the last thing we thought we'd need was our "winter coats". Well, so much for the "norm" in Houston in December!

This morning, we woke up to snow....and not just a little smattering of snow, the area we stayed in (Richmond/Rosenberg) actually got a couple of inches of snow!!

Our kids couldn't believe it was snowing in Houston. For that matter, it was hard for Shawn and I to believe as well. In my 20 years in Houston, I can only remember snow once or twice!!

NEWS FROM ABC — Houston had its earliest snowfall on record Friday, with several inches accumulating in counties southwest of the city.

The previous record for early snow in Houston was Dec. 10 in 1944 and again last year, said Charles Roeseler, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Snow is rare in the nation's fourth largest city. In the past 15 years, it has snowed four times, including Friday. Accumulations of 3 to 4 inches of snow were reported in counties southwest of Houston. The city got a half inch or less of snow, and its suburbs reported 1 to 2 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
