The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him.(Psalm 103:13)
What does love look like to you?
Derek Redmond was a promising Olympic sprinter. Ten minutes before his big race in Seoul in 1988, an Achilles tendon injury ruined his chances. He then underwent five surgeries and four years of training in preparation for the 1992 Barcelona games.
His moment came. In the lead, with only 165 meters to go, Redmond heard a pop---his right hamstring. In awful pain, he fell to the ground. As the stretcher arrived, Derek waved it off, struggled to his feet, and began hobbling toward the finish line by himself; he would finish. By this time, the crowd was standing and roaring for the courageous athlete.
Then he was joined by his father, who rushed from the top row of the stands, leaped over the railing, and refused to be stopped by the two security guards pursuing him. Jim Redmond whispered, "I'm here, son. We'll finish together." Few remember who won the race; no one watching could ever forget the picture of father bracing his son, finishing the race together.
The love of a father can be powerful; the love of our heavenly Father is beyond our comprehension. He bears us up when we cannot walk. He whispers love and encouragement: "I'm here. Let's do this."
Your View of God Really Matters …
Today, run the race for His glory, with heartfelt gratitude. And remember, He loves you and is right there beside you every step of the way.
