Shawn and I are both "on" Facebook. Well, really, Shawn is on Facebook and I just have a "name" there, but are not really "on" very much. It is a great way to connect with other folks, especially those you may have lost touch with. I have found a number of folks I knew growing up and the years during and after high school.
But I also have recognized the "DANGER" of social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. I was able to connect with several folks I knew in high school, including some girls that I dated. They are married now as I am. I was chatting with one of them one night and realized that it would be so EASY to begin an "emotional relationship" with someone via Facebook. You begin to remember things that you did together and those memories bring back a flood of emotions at times. At this point, it would be easy to begin sharing things that you should not be sharing with a person of the opposite sex that is NOT your spouse.
So the warning is: BE VERY CAREFUL. There is a real danger and temptation when you are talking to someone of the opposite sex, even when that "talking" is online.

I too have really enjoyed catching up w/some high school friends and recognized just how easy it would be to get "caught up" in an emotional relationship through fb. While I have no intentions of compromise; I still make sure that my hubby knows who I'm chatting with and the friend on the other end, knows that my hubby is nearby. Dale has enjoyed getting to meet (via fb and at mini-reunions) my high school friends.
Thank you for a great post.
