All Positive equals "No Power"!!

His words grabbed my attention: "All positive equals NO POWER!!" It was such a simple illustration but so true.

At the Campus Crusade Staff Conference we attended a couple of weeks ago, one of the speakers, Keith Battle, was sharing a message entitled "A Pearl in the Pain". It was the very familiar passage of Romans 8:28 ("And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.") But even though it was a familiar passage, this illustration helped me realize the full extent of what God is saying to us through His Word.

Keith Battle told us that the only reason a car battery works is because it has BOTH positive and negative charges. In order to have the power needed to start and operate a car, BOTH the positive and negative part of the battery MUST be working.

Keith told us that so many times as followers of Christ, we try to remove and "pray away" the negative things that come into our life - no suffering, no trials, no heartache. But, in Romans 8:28, God reminds us that in "ALL THINGS" (both positive and negative), He works for the good of those who love Him. We must have the "negative things" of life working together with the "positive things" of life in order to have His Power working in our lives.

We pray this will be a great encouragement today in the challenges and "negative things" you face. God is using ALL things in our life to mold us and shape us into the likeness of His Son.

Next time you open the hood of your car, be reminded of the truth of Romans 8:28 - and be thankful for both the negative charge in your car battery AND the "negative things" the Lord allows in your life!!
