Does your love exceed your resources?

Note from Bill Elliff, the pastor at our home church, the Summit Church, in North Little Rock. He was teaching on Ephesians 1 and the great treasure we have when we are "IN CHRIST"!!

"I love my kids. There are so many things that I would love to do for them. But my love EXCEEDS my resources! This is not true with God. He is perfect in His love for His children and inexhaustible in His riches. That is why Paul prays that our “eyes would be enlightened” so that we would realize “the riches of the glory of His inheritance” that He has given to His children."

"Our inheritance is a testimony of the love of our Father, but also of His generosity. He proves His love by giving us the greatest gift (His Son) who died for us “while we were yet sinners.” If that were not enough, He gives us Himself in Spirit-form, the Holy Spirit, who is the “downpayment of our inheritance” to live in us each moment after our conversion. All these acts of giving come from the Father. Father, Son, and Spirit are all extending their love to our undeserved lives."

"Why do we question God’s love that confronts us on every side? Why do we wander in frustration because of the meager, silly evaluations of unloving people—longing for their fickle approval—when the only One who matters is shouting of His unconditioned affection?"

"If you are IN CHRIST, you are His child. And He loves you perfectly. He has made you an “heir and joint-heir” with His Son. Eternity will unfold the riches of the glory of your inheritance that as been guaranteed by God and is just around the corner."

"So lay down your worries and fears, let go of the world’s trinkets and approval and relax in God’s perfect love. You’re richer than you can ever possibly imagine and loved with a perfect love by the One who matters most. Hallelujah!"
