Trusting God: The Proof is in the Pudding

Read the following in the Discover God Study Bible (written by Bright Media - legacy of Bill Bright) and thought it was too good NOT TO SHARE.  May the Lord speak to you as He encourages and challenges you through these thoughts:

"The proof of the pudding is in the eating." What does that English proverb from the 1300's mean? It announces that the best test of whether a dish is done properly is in the tasting of the food.

This proverb is rarely truer than when applied to trusting God. We can read about faith, and still remain faithless. We can pray for more faith, but still not trust God anymore than before we prayed. It is in the act of  trusting God, relying on God and keeping His covenant with us through Christ, that we discover that God is able to guide us. It is by faith in God and renouncing confidence in our own sinful strategies that we discover God's wise plans for our life.

As with faith, we do not experience God's direction by passively waiting for His will to be revealed to us. It is by actively seeking God's will that we experience the joy of walking in His way. As the Psalmist says, "Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in Him!"  Psalm 34:8
