What is “eMentoring”? While it’s not a counseling service, and no professional advice or services are offered, an eMentor takes a special interest in helping an eMentee develop as a person and as a believer. They’re a dependable listener and advisor who draws upon both the Word of God and personal experience to help the eMentee develop wisdom, stability, and dependence upon God. eMentors are sought based on a comprehensive list of qualities: spiritual and relational maturity, emotional stability, compassion, heart of prayer, trust in God, availability, teachability, transparency, humility, a desire to share Christ…and, of course, basic computer skills. They’re trained to pray online in written form, as well as in basic theology, evangelism, and how to disciple others and encourage personal spiritual growth. They are NOT counselors, but are equipped to offer Christ-centered solutions to life’s challenges and difficulties. In short, they are encouragers…showing others the way to seek God’s promise through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Take a few moments to check http://www.familylife.com/ementoring for more info. You can request help OR you can find out more about becoming a eMentor. We are in need or more folks to be trained as eMentors as the needs for help online continue to grow and grow each moth! And please put the enclosed eMentoring bookmark in your favorite book. Actual Comments from folks being eMentored:
“I am a big, burly, Grizzly Adams type with better hygiene. Even so, I cried as I read your e-mail. I am so grateful that God is using you to speak encouragement to me. I thank you and I thank God for you.”
“Thank you for emailing me. I am SO grateful for this- thank you so very much! E-mentoring is just brilliant and a lifeline for mums like me who don’t have a whole lot of support.” [from a “mum” in England]
