Must Read Quote on Prayer to Share!!

"I strongly suspect that if we saw all the difference even the tiniest of our prayers make and all the people those little prayers were destined to affect and all the consequences of those prayers down through the centuries, we would be so paralyzed with awe at the power of prayer that we would be unable to get up off our knees for the rest of our lives." --Peter Kreeft

After hearing this quote on prayer last week, I know I would share it on our blog. It is TOO GOOD not to pass on!

Our small group has been doing a study this semester on prayer and I have been learning (or re-learning) a lot about God's desire for Christ-followers in prayer. The study is called "When God's People Pray" by Jim Cymbala. I would recommend it for any one to do!

Probably the biggest lesson I have learned personally is perseverance. I do not really persevere in prayer. I pray for a few days or maybe even a few weeks and if the Lord does not answer, then I usually give up. This is not God's plan for us many times. We must be "long-suffering" in prayer. To persevere in prayer and wait on the Lord's timing. He may, indeed, grant our request in time or not. Or He may change our hearts and desires in the process of praying as we are transformed by Him.

Another lesson I am learning is this: He chooses to do some things ONLY through prayer. We must be obedient to work and serve and reach out to others in this world, but many times our desires are ONLY finally accomplished through prayer! That helps us to continue to be more and more dependent on him!

SHARING: If you have insights on prayer that you would like to share, please comment at the bottom or this post. We'd love to have your insights as well!
