Memorial Day: Honoring Our Military Heroes

I will be the first to admit it. I have not always taken time to celebrate and honor our military on Memorial Day. Too many years it has been "just another holiday". But thanks to a friend at FamilyLife and his encouragement, this year was different.

Shawn and the kids and I visited War Memorial Cemetery in Little Rock. A place where thousands and thousands our our military men and women are buried - from the Civil War times through today.

The first view I saw of War Memorial reminded me of that classic beginning and ending scene in Saving Private Ryan. With row upon row upon row of markers in Arlington National Cemetery. Those who had given their lives to serve and honor our country in the military.
